Salt Spring Solutions was created in 2018 in response to an awareness of the fundamental and pressing need for change on this island we all love. While blessed with fertile land, a temperate climate, an intelligent, engaged populace, and a unique governance model that allows for individual action and ingenuity, we have not, as a community, effectively set in motion the necessary strategies to ensure a resilient island community in the future. We want to help evolve this so-called “argument surrounded by water” to become an effective community where diverse voices band together around common values to solve our most pressing problems.
We envision a resilient Salt Spring Island community that works together to equitably care for the ecology and the community as one.
We are grateful to live and work in the ancestral and unceded traditional territories of the Coast Salish people, who speak Hul’qumi’num and SENĆOŦEN.
In 2020 we produced a short film highlighting some of the gaps in what we think Salt Spring is, versus what is really happening as our community strives to be green, kind, and resilient in the face of the 21st century’s challenges.
