The article was published yesterday in response to misinformation being spread in the community that the Trustees are prioritizing development over the protection of the environment by passing housing recommendations put forward by the Housing Task Force.
We published a response in the Times Colonist to accusations that maintaining some affordable housing for working people will lead to the destruction of nature on Salt Spring.
The affordable housing crisis is indeed one of the biggest problems of our times. It wasn’t created overnight, nor will it be solved in only a few years. But we are going to solve it, and to do so we need islanders to first believe we can do it.
